What is good in this journey of life? Lots of things may come to mind, but what are the ultimate treasures in life? God is the source of perfect love and life eternal. On this earth, our truest passions draw us toward love and life. Love of God, love of family, love of friends, love of the one to spend your life with. And the joy of living a life to it’s fullest, as well as sacrificing part of self to enrich the lives of those we love.

The culture tries to drown out these greatest of goods. And the marketing of the world is amazing, that it can try to distract us from what’s truly important. Messages surround us that life can be discarded if inconvenient, a life, like ours, that is destined for eternity.  Messages that love is not important, so no sacrifice is needed, no dying of self for the other, but rather others can be used for simple pleasures.  The very act God created to express the deepest love among spouses is left void of meaning and dignity when dropped to the level of casual recreation.
The core teaching of natural family planning has steps built in to protect love and life. Through the steps of learning NFP, an awareness of the beauty with which we are created unfolds like a rose, showing the intricacy of  multiple changes in the body working in concert to create life. By the steps involved in couples choosing abstinence before marriage, or during times of avoiding pregnancy after marriage, the  sacrificial love of choosing the good of the other person over self, strengthens the life time bond of love. In using NFP to bring life from love, we become co-creators with God, and realize the miracle of life at the very earliest of stages, so the child can be protected and treasured by the parents from the start.

God created us to grow in love towards Him for all eternity. NFP helps us order things toward the greatest good.
