Question #58

Hello,

I'm writing to you because I'm a bit concerned as to what my body is doing. This is the second month I am under super ovulation drugs followed by ovulation induction drug (HCG). And this is the first month the doctor prescribed a natural Progesterone since the day after I ovulated. Today is day the 15th day past my ovulation and my body temperature is still up and I have no period. I did a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative.

I feel like my period is already here! I don't have the usual cramps I have before my period although I do feel as if it is about to come. What could be happening? Could the Progesterone be interfering with my period? Please help.

Thank you,

Rebecca

 Answer:

Either HCG or progesterone can prolong your cycle. Your temperature can stay up from either your own progesterone post-ovulation, progesterone medication, or pregnancy. There are different regimens of prescribing progesterone in the latter part of the cycle. You should ask your doctor exactly how long he wants you to stay on the progesterone, and at what point you should have blood or urine tests to diagnose an early pregnancy.
