Question

I am 18 years of age and just recently started having sex. My boyfriend and I came to a consensus that I start the Pill, even though we use a condom we had to take extra measures so I don't get pregnant.

I was injected with Nur-isterate. I read a bit about it on the Net and am scared that it will affect me later in life if I want to have kids of my own.

Please help me out, and tell me if I should stop the injection altogether as I wouldn't want to jeopardize my future plans.

Dear Emily,

You are correct in realizing that you are jeopardizing your health seriously. By engaging in intercourse armored by a variety of contraceptives you make yourself vulnerable to heartbreaks of great magnitude, such as being used and cast aside with impaired infertility, and perhaps increased chances of getting breast cancer and blood clots caused by the pill and contraceptive shots, patches or medications. Your body is a sensitive instrument for expressing love and spiritual intimacy, and particularly for nurturing a new human being in a pregnancy - and pregnancies do occur even with contraception, especially where young couples are concerned.

I suggest you suspend sexual activity while you learn the beautiful symphony unfolding within your body by studying natural family planning. If you and your boyfriend then want to build a future together and plan a family, get married and do it right.
