Question

My boy friend and I are planning on getting engaged within the next year, and married about a year or so after that. I have always had really irregular periods. I want to do NFP and use it in my future marriage. I am wondering how long I should do it before I get married and need to use it. And since my cycle is so irregular should I start it earlier than most?

Caitlin

Answer

Hi Caitlin,

Congratulations on your planned engagement and future marriage. Now is a perfect time for you to learn NFP to learn when you are fertile or infertile on any given day. Your daily charting will also help you identify reasons for your irregular cycles, so you can obtain properly timed treatment if you need it, and have a more normal pattern before you marry.

Best wishes,
Theresa Mitchell
