Question
I have come off the pill because I got so that I was not having a period on my free week. It has been a year and my periods have gotten so light it's just a brown discharge.
I have had internal and external examinations, blood tests and everything appears to be normal. My doctor says it's normal if I'm not bleeding I'm also not ovulating.
I'm glad I'm single and not trying for a baby. My doctor said if I was trying for a baby, I would need to have something done at a fertility clinic to jump start my ovaries into producing eggs.
I'm still looking for answers. I'm not satisfied with what the doctor said.
There are no signs of Polysistic Ovarian Syndrome.
What is wrong? I need to have normal bleeds as I feel better having them.
Louise
Answer
Dear Louise,
You didn't mention your age or weight, both of which can affect your menstrual periods, but since you have had the medical tests and checkups that you need to eliminate the possibility of Polycystic Syndrome or other problems, it would benefit you greatly to take a class in Natural Family Planning (NFP). A certified NFP teacher can show you how to identfy any possible impending ovulation by means of observing your own body's signs and symptoms. This information will serve you well no matter what situation you are in, whether you are seeking pregnancy, spacing births, or just wanting to know if your own body is functioning well.
