Question
What are the consequences for a female when she decides to "tie her tubes" after having children?
God Bless,
Alicia
Answer
Dear Alicia,
As with any operation, there is the risk of bleeding, infection, reactions to the anesthesia, damage to internal organs, etc. There have been some studies that suggest the possibilty of menstrual irregularities. In addition, the desire to procreate or have more children may be still present, and that may cause a woman to regret the decision after the fact. This can probably lead to depression and resentment. From a theological point of view, this is also a decision that closes the door to God's gift of life. Therefore, the sacredness behind the procreative act is removed. Hope this helps. God Bless.
