Question
I am so scared because I don't really remember when my menstrual cycle was but let me see. I had sex with my boyfriend, two weeks later on January 20-21 I had sex with my ex-boyfriend. I just went to the doctor and we had an ultrasound. She thinks that I am 8 weeks and 2 months pregnant. Can I ever know who the father may be? Today is March 7, 2006. I dont know my first day of my last menstrual cycle but that doctor give me that day.

Dear Frances:
I do not know whether your doctor is referring to your pregnancy in terms of gestational age 8 weeks or fetal age 6 weeks. However since you were not able to give her the date of your last menstrual period her estimation of the baby's age could be 6 or 8 weeks. She also could have measured your baby's length and determined his or her age that way, but I have know way of knowing that.
Therefore I cannot give you a definitive answer to your question as to who the father is.
Ask your doctor if she can give you more clarification about the dating of the conception of your baby and tell her why you need to know what she bases the age on.
This is a very challenging time for you, I know. Try to follow through on your questions and get the facts as best you can. Then I would recommend you talk with someone who can support you and the baby through your pregnancy. Birthright is a good organization that can help you.
