Question
I had a Vaginal Cauterization done about a year back to treat yeast infection. I used to have a brown discharge for 2 days before my monthly cycle. But since the cauterization, the period of brown discharge has gradually increased from 4 days to more than 10 days before my monthly cycle. What could be the reason for this?
Answer
I have never heard of a vaginal cauterization for a yeast infection. Usually those are treated with over the counter suppositories such as Monistat or medications by mouth such as flucanazole. I have a feeling you might have been treated for something else. Regarding the brown discharge, causes can include progesterone deficiency or maybe even inflammation of the lining of the uterus. If you are charting with the Creighton Model, you may want to ask your instructor to refer your chart/case to a Medical Consultant for review. Hope this helps. God Bless.
